iSPY has been set up to showcase the works of Dan Mariner.

About: Dan is a UK-based freelance photographer with years’ of experience in social documentary and live event photography. His personal reportage highlights underlying social issues and culture in Britain today.

Dan had the unique opportunity to travel the world with his family from an early age, exploring most of Europe, the US and Asia by the age of 24. This worldview colours his practice, allowing him to ‘blend in’ and to use his eyes, his broad social intuition and his camera as tools of impartial, and yet all-involved, observational tools.

Artist Statement In my work I seek to tell stories through the use of light. Each project I undertake becomes a visual archive that enables the viewer to fully engage with the subject matter. I am a photographer of people and I am fascinated by how their lives interconnect with and shape their communities.

Influenced by the pioneering documentary work of Don McCullin, William Albert Allard, Phillip Jones Griffiths and Nick Waplington. I seek to continue and embellish this rich photographic heritage.

Influences also include: Mark Power, Josef Kudelka, Martin Parr, Murdo MacLeod, Henri Cartier Bresson, Magnum Photo Agency and National Geographic Magazine.
